…And From the Chaos of Something

It’s been about 4 weeks since I graduated and most of the things that I expected to be difficult have upheld that supposition. Challenges are plenty, but so are successes. Once again I find myself in a subterranean place, making noise. Once again Tyler and I find ourselves working on drum covers. They’re coming out really well I think, I guess only time and other peoples opinions will confirm that.

A year ago, Tyler and I started what would become a brilliant professional relationship. This involved the mutual need for education and recording services. The best part of these sessions for me has been the ability to experiment and learn my craft.

This time around the equipment has improved, Tyler’s playing has improved and like to think that I have improved as well. Once again I think that the judgment of my abilities will happen when everything is complete. All I can say now is that I feel a lot more comfortable with what I’m doing than I ever did. It might still take me 2+ hours but I feel like I’m working smarter and the results show that, I think. I guess we'l see how it sounds.

The theme for this endeavor, this time, is production value. Neither of us are necessarily skilled at production for film, I think tyler has more experience than me. However like most things it’s a learning experience. Learning about lighting, editing, backdrops and capturing images is worthwhile. If these covers can look really polished, then mission accomplished. It’s the exploration of how to create something as professional as possible and to do the best we can, in a basement in Philadelphia
